A healthy jawbone supports and anchors teeth, providing a stable foundation for biting and chewing. Unfortunately, you can lose your jawbone to advanced periodontal disease, dental trauma, and prolonged tooth loss. Losing your jawbone affects oral function and aesthetics and makes you ineligible for dental restorations like dental implants.
Have you lost your jawbone? Bone grafting in Antioch, California, can replenish the lost bone tissue to restore your jawbone’s height and width. Simarro Brothers Dental Care blends technical skills with cutting-edge technology to achieve remarkable bone grafting outcomes. Stabilize the foundation of your smile today with bone grafting from Drs. Ryan and Nathan Simarro.
In a surgical process called bone grafting, bone material is added to the jawbone. This dental procedure regenerates lost jawbone to stabilize the jawbone for dental procedures like dental implants. Bone grafting stabilizes facial structures, making you look younger and happier.
So, when do you need bone grafting? It’s a necessary procedure when you have lost your jawbone because of:
Whatever the reason you have lost your jawbone, the goal of bone grafting is the same—to restore your jawbone’s structural integrity. When we replenish the lost bone tissue, we rebuild a strong foundation for future oral health.
Although dental grafting is a surgical procedure, we guarantee a comfortable dental experience. To ensure you won’t experience any discomfort during treatment, the dentist uses strong anaesthetics to numb your gums before your procedure. However, if you are nervous about your procedure, discuss sedation dentistry with our staff.
When you are comfortable, the dentist makes a small incision on the gums to access the bone beneath. Then, we’ll carefully place the dental graft on the underlying bone. You can source the bone graft from another body part (autograft), a donor (allograft), animal sources, or synthetic materials.
After graft placement, we will secure it with stitches, promoting stable healing and integration. Over the following months, your body gradually forms new bone cells around the graft. This process allows the graft to become part of the jaw structure, strengthening it enough to support implants or other restorations.
Initial healing takes a few weeks, but full bone integration takes 4-6 months. To ensure the graft integrates well, follow your dentist’s instructions during the healing phase. This means you observe optimal oral hygiene, quit smoking, and take the prescribed medications as directed. Also, adhere to your follow-up appointments to ensure you heal as expected.
If you need a bone graft, don’t hesitate to contact us. Our dental team is ready to help you take the next step in restoring your dental health. Call (925) 723-9090 to schedule an appointment with Simarro Brothers Dental Care.
